Playin Mexican Train with Sal and Mel at the KH Hilton during the storm (much better than sittin in a dark shakin house with 3' of water underneath) The 13 yr old planking out by the hotel pool (KH pier in background) Sunday morning sunrise. From fury to calm in just a few hours Easy to see the high water mark at Billy's Seafood (on the way home with Sal to survey the mess). Alot of Colington Island was underwater at peak flood Only watercraft mishap was the canoe and an old yak getting pulled and deposited in the front yard Neighbor not so lucky with his boat drifting off his lift and ending up 300 yards away in a back yard Ground level mop-up/dry-out routine. Not my favorite job but at least no finished area to deal with. Sure glad the water didn't go higher. Amazing how flood vents worked perfectly

Who cares about a little storage area flooding. Replacing $45k worth of bulkhead, dock, and lift would have been so not fun. In good shape. Were it not for that skinny strip of soundside park and homes to the west (which got beat to shreds) this would have been obliterated. The harbor maintenance guys were happy to see my dock saved one of the park picnic benches Older soundfront home across the harbor didn't make it. A small chunk of it drifted past our place and ended up in my neighbors yard Being high off the water isn't always a good thing. Dune erosion definitely made this a bit more precarious Soundfront pools are quite the hazard. This one almost compromised the house stability Bay Drive piers took a big hit This Bay Dr pier gets 1st place for survival, boat and all. Increase the mag and you can see where the starboard bow boat lift piling is heavily notched from the lift cross beam bangin into during the storm. The pier next to this one was completely ripped apart. Unfortunately this is what alot of soundfront piers now look like. At least the homes are mostly intact.

Wow! So glad your damage was minimal! Not too happy with Irene! I had my husband completely convinced on retiring down there. We stayed in Colington last Fall and that is where he wanted to buy, but now...he is having second thoughts.... Damn you Irene! He is coming down the 1st week in October (meeting me after the CLOBC week). If you get to meet him, please tell him how much you love it there! He did plan to look at homes for sale there, but who knows now! So bummed...

Thanks Dave, haven't seen many photos from the Harbour, can't believe how high the water got back there. So glad you fared pretty well, esp the dock/lift and bulkhead. Hope the cleanup goes quickly!

We stayed in Colington last Fall and that is where he wanted to buy, but now...he is having second thoughts.... Damn you Irene! He is coming down the 1st week in October (meeting me after the CLOBC week). If you get to meet him, please tell him how much you love it there! He did plan to look at homes for sale there, but who knows now! So bummed... happy to help any way I can! We'll probably loose a couple of residents who just don't want to go through this again. Hoi's thread describing early Bankers being driven out by repeated storms seems timely. We're not deterred at all though we'll probably tweak a few things to make prep a bit easier for the next Floyd style storm (and book early at the Hilton:wink. Guess it's all part of bein a modern day Banker. Amazing the # of soundside residents who had no idea of the potential flooding from the backside of this storm. Just look at the Floyd track versus Izzy (think I got Mellie a bit worked up yakkin about it at the hotel while everyone was watchin the water get drained out on the front side). Oh well, they sure know now. Good luck with your (potential) search!

Glad you fared well...water clean up in the garage is MUCH better then water clean up in your home. I heard alot of sound front homes took the brunt of the damage so I'm glad yours is in good shape. Thanks for updating and sharing your pics.

Great shots, I'm glad you only had minimal stuff to deal with. Your situation is about the same as ours.I can't believe someone left that boat on the lift. We had our lift tied off like you did, boat was in a safe place.

Dave, thanks for great pics! I hope my Uncle's house on King Ct fared just as well!He had the choice to ride it out in Colington, or Pt Pleasant beach NJ. Neither one a good choice!!
