Do I need the chain spreader on a Model D2101? I was told by a Chamberline rep on the phone yesterday that I didn't, but all the videos that I watch show the installer using the spreader. I am confused.

What happens if tab on rail near wall mount n pulley isn't pried up with screwdriver? Would that cause garage door to only raise a few inches?
