    Green Beans Almondine

    Green beans almondine are green beans sautéed with garlic and shallots, and topped with buttery, toasted almonds. It's a fancy recipe that looks impressive, but is so easy to make.

    Ingredients

    • 1 tablespoon butter
    • 3 tablespoons sliced almonds
    • 1 tablespoon olive oil
    • 2 shallots, finely diced
    • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
    • 1 lb fresh green beans, rinsed and trimmed
    • 2 tablespoons water
    • Salt and pepper, to taste

    Instructions

    • In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the almonds and toast until fragrant and golden brown, about 1-2 minutes. Remove the almonds from the skillet and set aside.

    • Add the olive oil and shallots to the skillet and sauté over medium heat for 2 minutes, until softened. Add the garlic and continue to sauté for one more minute.

    • Add the green beans and water, stirring to coat with the onion and garlic. Loosely cover the skillet with the lid. Cook green beans over low to medium heat, stirring occasionally, for 10 to 15 minutes, until the beans soften to your desired texture.

    • Season with salt and pepper, to taste, and then top with the toasted almonds. Serve immediately.
